PJ Harvey returns with her full 10-piece band, following the release of the critically acclaimed album The Hope Six Demolition Project, which hit #1 in the UK album charts. These will be PJ Harvey’s first live dates in Australia since 2012, with a show that is receiving rave reviews from audiences in the US and across Europe.
Just announced: We are stoked to welcome back Sydney Festival 2015 alumni, Xylouris White. The rarefied duo of Dirty Three drummer Jim White and Cretan lute player George Xylouris return following the release of Black Peak, their second long playing offering which follows up their 2014 debut and Billboard World Music #1 album, Goats.
One of Crete’s best-loved artists, Xylouris is a scion of Greek musical royalty, a family from a mountain village near the Cave of Zeus, while Jim White has commanded international attention for more than two decades as part of Dirty Three. Now New York-based, he also formed post-punk band Venom P Stinger and has worked with artists such as Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, PJ Harvey, Nina Nastasia, Cat Power and Smog. Together they perform a mosaic of music that incorporates free jazz, post-punk, world and ethnic music; together and individually they are unique.
Co-presented with Billions Australia.
