Calling on roller skaters of all ages and abilities. Dust off your skates and glide, boogie and shake your way around the Archibald Fountain in Hyde Park to live DJs every Saturday afternoon.

For those of you without wheels, there is still plenty to do. Drop by the Meriton Festival Village from 12pm to grab a bite to eat and something to drink and check out the free live bands on the Village Stage. When the roller jam starts, find a spot on the lawn around the skate circle and take in the tunes as the roller-skaters whirl around one of Sydney’s iconic landmarks.

For the younger participants, please remember to bring your safety gear. All children under 14 must wear a helmet to participate. For full skater guidelines and conditions of participation please click here

Make a day of it and stick around after Roller Jam to catch The Hair Salon.

Check out the full Roller Jam DJ schedule and line-up below and get a taste for the tunes they'll be spinning here.

Saturday 7 January

2.30pm: Nick Toth

Bounce, Rock, Skate at the Roller Jam with us—think James Brown with kneepads or Rick James on Riedell Skates. The funkiest elements of soulful disco with pounding electric boogie plus plenty of Latin percussion… we’ll bring a slice of the 1970’s NYC club scene to Hyde Park! Catch the fever, oh yeah!

4.30pm: Simon Caldwell

Bringing a wealth of bona fide roller skating jams, Simon Caldwell is a veteran of Sydney's funk and house music scenes. Playing at the infamous Funk Inc parties, as part of the All Funked Up crew (Bentley Bar, Cricketers Arms), and as a funk, house and electro DJ in his own right, Simon has the music for the funky skating moves, and might even have a roll around on the day.

Saturday 14 January

2.30pm: Stephen Allkins [Love-Tattoo]

Sydney's disco godfather Stephen Allkins is one of the pioneers of dance music in Sydney, having played at disco clubs and warehouse parties in the 1970s and inspired a whole generation of DJs through his infamous sets in the decades since then.

4.30pm: Misbehaviour (US)

London veteran Misbehaviour will be bringing her Central Park Roller Jam vibe to Sydney in January. Moving to NYC in 1999, she discovered the ‘Skate Circle’ run by The Central Park Dance Skaters Association—a group whose common link is a love of dance-skating. She brought her mix of dance classics from the 70's to the present day and soon won the hearts and souls of the skaters who also hipped her to their favourite jams.

Saturday 21 January

2.30pm: Paris Groovescooter

Though he’d probably look as uncomfortable as Olivia in Xanadu and sustain a serious self-injury if he strapped on a pair of skates himself, DJ Paris Groovescooter is really in his comfort zone providing the “bounce, rock, skate, roll” soundtrack for a Saturday afternoon roller-jam. Having pushed the ‘80s boogie sound via his weekly radio shows and club residencies here in Sydney for years, he’ll mix up classic disco to ‘80s electro-funk to keep you trucking round that fountain.

4.30pm: Misbehaviour (US)

Saturday 28 January

2.30pm: Adi Toohey

Once described as a certified boogie-ologist, Adi cut her funky teeth on six hour sets at the Different Drummer in Glebe and has since become a go-to fill-in for Stephen Ferris’ Souled Out show on FBi Radio. Expect to hear some classic disco, boogie and electro-funk sourced from the dollar bins of New York and Tokyo as you roll around the rink.

4.30pm: CC:DISCO!

Australia's First Lady of Disco, Club DJ and radio announcer CC:DISCO! has been spreading the good gospel across dance floors and over the airwaves since 2010. Having played some of the world’s biggest dance music festivals, she's no stranger to a heaving (or spinning) crowd.
