Traditional knowledges (local and diaspora) are often communicated through song, dance and story. What role can these knowledges play in our current discussions about the environment? How is dance a vital part of this discussion?

Contributing artists: Frances Rings, Taree Sansbury, Latai Taumoepeau and Eko Supriyanto (Ekosdance).

Frances Rings
A descendant of the Kokatha people, Frances is a dancer and choreographer with a long history of working with Bangarra Dance Theatre and other companies. Having trained at NAISDA in the early 90's, she is currently their Head of Creative Studies.

Taree Sansbury
An emerging artist and NAISDA Dance College graduate, Taree is a proud Kaurna, Narungga and Ngarrindjeri woman from South Australia. She has worked with Force Majeure, and choreographer Vicki Van Hout on her recent work Long Grass (Sydney Festival 2015).

Latai Taumoepeau
Latai is a Punake, body-centered performance artist. She activates Indigenous philosophies and methodologies; cross-pollinating ancient practices of ceremony with her contemporary processes and performance work to re-interpret, re-generate and extend her practice and its function in and from Oceania.
