One of Australia’s most awarded and celebrated playwrights, Patricia Cornelius, isn’t afraid to tell the truth about Australia. Her confronting plays deal with people living on the margins of society, struggling with poverty and prejudice. Her theatre works have earned her a number of high-profile credits including Australian Writers’ Guild Awards, the Patrick White Playwrights' Award, the Wal Cherry Prize for New Plays and the 2011 NSW Premier’s Literary Award for Drama.
“… don’t do piddly-little things, don’t avoid the tough questions. You get so few chances to say something that has meaning, and it’s bloody hard work, so if you get the chance, you may as well go for the big ideas and tear us apart.” Patricia Cornelius, Limelight.
Never one to shy away from an argument, Patricia discusses the role of women in theatre and how to create theatre that packs a punch.
