Marrugeku’s three-year mentorship program, Burrbgaja Yalirra, is designed to support a selected group of game-changers in intercultural dance and performance. The program kicks off in January opening up a lab to share Marrugeku’s cultural, choreographic, dramaturgical and community processes with a group of 10 artists from NSW and WA. This continues Marrugeku’s commitment to build bridges across remote and urban contexts in Australia and promotes international development in contemporary dance theatre.
Led by Marrugeku’s Co-Artistic Directors - Dalisa Pigram and Rachael Swain - alongside Koen Augustijnen, the lab concludes with a public forum.
Dance, Culture and Imagination Forum
Marrugeku’s Co-Artistic Directors will discuss the company’s exploration of new cultural and artistic pathways in the creation of contemporary dance theatre. Ideas developed from each dancers cultural perspectives, experience, stories and imagination will be explored.
Open Rehearsals
Marrugeku will open it doors to the investigative process of creating culturally informed contemporary dance.
