What is the place of care and caring in our society and how might an embodied practice help us in understanding it?

Contributing artists Jacob Boehme (Blood on the Dance Floor), Future Fidel (Prize Fighter), Amit Lahav (Institute) and Jodee Mundy (Imagined Touch).

Future Fidel
Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Future was forced to flee as an orphan stowaway to Tanzania, spending eight years in the camp before being accepted as a refugee in Australia. He has worked at Laboite Theatre Company as a playwright in residence and his debut play Prize Fighter earned him 4 Helpmann nominations.

Jacob Boehme
Jacob Boehme is a Melbourne based multidisciplinary theatre maker of the Narangga and Kaurna Nations, South Australia. He is Creative Director of YIRRAMBOI, the City of Melbourne’s First Nations International Arts Festival. Blood on the Dance Floor is Jacob’s debut as a playwright, first developed as part ILBIJERRI’s Black Writers Lab.

Amit Lahav
Amit Lahav is the Artistic Director of Gecko creating and performing in all their critically acclaimed shows including Institute. Amit was born in Israel and trained as a physical theatre performer, working with pioneers including Lindsay Kemp, Steven Berkoff, Ken Campbell and David Glass.

Jodee Mundy
Jodee Mundy is fluent in Auslan and tactile communication because everyone in her family, except for her, is Deaf. After 20 years of theatre making in diverse communities and sign language interpreting around the globe, she has a method of creative practice that takes into account the power balance of all her collaborators, the voices and lack of voices of all stakeholders.

Claire Hicks (Chair)
Claire has been working with artists, artform and audience development for over 20 years. She is currently Director of Critical Path.

Critical Path is Australia’s leading centre for choreographic research and development – supporting artists to push the boundaries of contemporary practice and opening up a space for debate and critical appreciation of dance.
